It has been one of those months where things don’t go the way you want. It all takes too long and I quickly lose interest. I wasted an entire weekend chasing fast flashing indicators in the 453 EQ fortwo. The front indicators wouldn’t work which eventually turned out to be the bumper wiring loom. Fitted a replacement loom that didn’t have fog light wiring, all of the indicators worked but they still fast flashed. Eventually I disconnected the battery for a few hours and it started working. The problem the next week was the MOT.
I drove to the wheel alignment place on the way to the MOT, that turned out fine. Got to the MOT place and was immediately told that it would fail because I’d removed the front fog lights but the age of the car and the stalk having the front fog switch = fail.
So, I drove home, swapped cars and went to my local smart main dealer. Parts department was closed for stock take. Turds. Went home and started looking at making a wiring loom. That’s when I got a frontal radar fault that couldn’t be deleted. Xentry said it wasn’t facing exactly the right direction but no adjustment changed any of the figures. I’m not sure it’d pass an MOT with radar braking faults showing on the speedo. So I don’t know what to do with that at the moment.
Anyway, this is what I have completed as well as messing about with this EQ.
450 heater fan removal
453 windscreen wipers won’t stop
451 CDI high pressure fuel pump removal
453 stuck in park?
Apple CarPlay on any smart, including the 453 R-Link stereo
453 Brake light failure
453 EQ acoustic presence off-switch retrofit
