Safety Triangle Removal

Mod Description

It's the plastic button surround on the top of the dash and carries the central locking, hazard light and other buttons depending on the model of the smart. Here is how to take it out of the car and take it apart.

Removal From The Car

Push a flat bladed screwdriver into the back of the unit between the dash and the panel. As you push it will release a clip that is centrally located.

Lift the rear of the safety triangle up and pull it away, disconnect the 2 plugs underneath.

To refit, put the rear clip back in place, ensure no wires are trapped and push down on the front edge of the triangle so both the front clips click in place.

Fortwo/City Coupe/Cabrio – 1 And 2 Button Triangle

Remove the screws circled in red with a Torx 8 bit.

Remove the black cover.

Lift the PCB from the surround.

There you have it.

Remove the screws circled in red with a Torx 8 bit.

Remove the black cover.

Lift the PCB from the surround.

There you have it.
