Air Conditioning

The air conditioning does two things:

Cools down the air.
Dehumidifies the air.

Dehumidifying removes the water from the air. In the summer this allows your sweat to evaporate which naturally cool the body. In the winter it helps demist the windows.

Operating The Air Conditioning System

The air conditioning button (4) is located on the safety triangle on the top of the dash.

On the first press of the button, a single light will illuminate
to show that the air con system is working on half power.
On the second press of the button, a second light will illuminate
to show that the air con is working on full power.
Pressing the button a third time turns off both lights and the air conditioning system.

The air conditioning will turn off automatically when:

The engine speed is too low.
The car pulls away from standstill.
The blower fan is switched off.
The coolant temperature exceeds 115 degrees.

Keeping The Air Con Working

It is essential that the air conditioning system is used for at least 15 minutes a
week otherwise the seals will perish. If this happens, the gas will escape and the
air conditioning will stop working. Ideally it’s best just to leave the air conditioning
on the first setting at all times, you can still use it with the heater.

When using the air conditioning, the system is most effective when the windows and
roof are closed. It allows the dehumidified and cooled air to stay within the cabin.

To quickly cool a hot car, open the windows for a few minutes as you
drive before closing them and turning on the air con on its highest setting.
This allows the hot air to be expelled from the car so the air con doesn’t
have to attempt to cool it.
